How to create a wiki page in GitHub
Learn how to create and publish a wiki page on GitHub to document contribution guidelines, processes, or reference material for your team.
Steps
- Return from wiki editor to repository view — Navigate away from the wiki editor back to the Task Tracker App repository main page where the README content and repository controls are visible again.
- Click into wiki content editor area — Move focus from the title to the markdown content editor so you can begin entering or adjusting the contribution guidelines text for the page.
- Enter Contribution Guidelines as page title — In the Create new page editor, type Contribution Guidelines into the title field so the new wiki page has a clear, descriptive name.
- Click Create the first wiki page button — On the empty Wiki home, click the primary button labeled to create the first page and begin setting up the new wiki documentation page.
- Switch from Code tab to Wiki home — Navigate from the Code tab to the repository Wiki section so the wiki home page appears with a prompt to create the first wiki page.
- Confirm Code tab with README content — Stay on the Code tab of the Task-tracker repository and confirm the README and main navigation bar are visible before moving to the Wiki section.
