How to Create a Task on a Contact in HubSpot
Make sure no follow-up ever slips through the cracks. Stay on top of every commitment you make to a contact.
Steps
- Submit completed follow-up task to create — Confirm the fully completed task form by using the create control so the scheduled follow-up for this contact is added into the CRM task list.
- Adjust business-day timing in task editor — Use the scheduling controls in the task editor panel to refine when the follow-up occurs, aligning timing options like business days with your workflow.
- Configure task schedule and ownership — Adjust the task’s due date and assign an owner within the task modal so scheduling and responsibility are clearly defined for the follow-up.
- Review contact info and related records — Use the left contact info panel, central activity feed, and right sidebar panels to understand details, related companies, deals, and tickets before adding tasks.
- Review contact activities on detail page — Use the contact header, Activities tab, and activity timeline to understand recent emails, calls, tasks, and meetings for this person.
- Review contacts list with filters applied — Use the filter toolbar and contacts table to inspect names, emails, phone numbers, and companies before drilling into an individual contact.
- Review meetings and pipeline on dashboard — Stay on the CRM home dashboard to scan your meetings overview and sales pipeline cards using the left navigation to orient yourself.
