How can I add spotlights in my Flo?

Spotlight is an element you can add to a Flo to draw attention to a specific area of the screen. It works on videos and interactive demos, and you control exactly when it appears and disappears.

Why use it

Use Spotlight when you want viewers to focus on one part of the screen instead of the whole frame — for example, a button, a field, or a specific section of your product. It helps guide attention during a recording without needing to re-record or edit the underlying footage.

How to add a Spotlight

1. Once your recording is complete, the Flo opens along with the edit panel. To add a spotlight to an existing Flo instead, open the Flo and click Edit.
2. Under Add elements, select Spotlight. A Spotlight element appears on your Flo.
3. In the Spotlight configuration panel, enter a name for your spotlight. Naming it clearly helps you identify it later, especially once you have multiple spotlights on the same Flo.
4. Set the start time and end time to define how long the spotlight is visible.
5. Drag and drop the spotlight to position it where you want.
6. Drag the edges to resize the spotlight as needed.
7. Choose the spotlight shape — rectangle or circle.
8. Use the Show spotlight toggle to hide or show the spotlight without deleting it. This is useful if you don't need the spotlight right now but might want it again later — hide it instead of deleting it, then unhide it whenever you need it back.
9. Click Apply to add the spotlight to your Flo.

Click Add new to create another spotlight, then configure it the same way as above.

Manage existing spotlights

All spotlights added to a Flo are listed in the Spotlight menu.

• Edit a spotlight — click it in the list to open and modify it.
• Delete a spotlight — click the three-dot menu next to it, click the delete icon, then confirm by clicking Delete again.

Best practices

• Use the Show spotlight toggle instead of deleting when you just want to temporarily turn a spotlight off.
• Keep spotlight duration tight around the moment you want highlighted — a shorter window keeps viewer attention focused.
• Use multiple spotlights across a single Flo to guide viewers through several areas in sequence, rather than one spotlight covering too much of the screen.
