Every time you create a Flo (a guide, demo, or video), Floik asks you to choose what to record: a tab, a window, or your entire screen. Selecting Entire screen lets you capture anything on your computer, including desktop applications and other windows outside the browser.
Why use it
Not every workflow lives in a browser tab. If the flow you want to document involves a desktop app, a system dialog, or moving between an app and a browser, recording the entire screen captures all of it in a single Flo. It's also the option to choose when you need pop-ups to appear in your recording.
How to record an app outside your browser
- Click Create new to start capturing a new Flo.
- When prompted to choose what you want to share, select Entire screen, then choose the screen you want to share.
- In the recording pop-up, click Start recording and wait until the recording begins.
- Switch to the application or tab you want to record and go through your workflow.
- When you're done, return to the Floik tab.
- In the recording pop-up, click Finish and save recording.
The recorded Flo is uploaded to your workspace, where you can edit and publish it.
Best practices
- Open the app you plan to record before you start, so the recording doesn't include you searching for it.
- Close notifications and unrelated windows first. Entire screen recording captures everything on the screen you select.
- Keyboard entries aren't captured, so add any typed input manually while editing the Flo.
