How to edit a step-by-step guide?

After you capture a Step-by-Step Guide, you can edit each step from the Edit panel. For each step, you can change the title, description, and the slide image. You can also add elements and effects to the step image.

Why use it

• Fix or refine the content of a step after recording.
• Replace a screenshot with a clearer image, an uploaded image, or a background.
• Direct viewers' attention to the part of the screen that matters.

How to edit a step

1. Open your Step-by-Step Guide and go to the Edit panel.
2. Click the step you want to edit.
3. Update the Title, Description, or Slide image as needed.

Replace the slide image

1. Click Replace image for the step. The Select slide image widget opens.
2. Choose an image from one of these sources:
   • Select from original
   • My uploads
   • Background
3. Click Insert to apply the image to the step.

Add elements to a step

You can add these elements to a step:

• Blur
• Image
• Spotlight
• Text
• Highlight
• Annotation

Crop the image

Click the Crop option to crop the slide image for the step.

Highlight where viewers should focus

• Enable the Zoom-in effect to zoom into the area viewers should focus on.
• Enable Animated click to show clearly where the action is performed.

View all added elements

The Added elements dropdown lists the elements added across all steps in the guide. Each entry shows the element name and the step it belongs to.

Best practices

• Use Zoom-in on steps where the relevant area is small, such as a single button or field.
• Pair Animated click with Zoom-in, so viewers see both the area and the action.
• Use Blur to hide sensitive information on a step.
