How to add multilingual subtitles to a Flo

Let viewers read along in their own language, no matter which language your Flo is narrated in.

Crafted using Floik

Multilingual subtitles let you add subtitles in multiple languages to a single Flo, so viewers can read along in a language different from the one being spoken.

Why use it

Multilingual subtitles let viewers listen in one language while reading subtitles in another — useful for audiences who understand a language when reading but prefer a different spoken language, or for teams supporting viewers across several regions from a single Flo.

How to add multilingual subtitles
  1. Select the language from the language selector at the top left to which you want to add subtitles.
  2. In the Edit panel, make sure the Subtitles toggle is turned on. Click Manage.
  3. This opens the Subtitles panel, showing the current language and its subtitle segments, each with a timestamp
  4. Click Add to add subtitles for another language.
  5. Choose a language from the list. The subtitles for that language will be generated from your default language.

Once published, viewers can click the three-dot menu on the player to choose their Language and subtitles separately, letting them listen in one language while reading subtitles in another.

Best practices

  • Add subtitles for the languages most relevant to your audience, based on yourplan's limits.
  • Reviewauto-generated subtitles against the source before publishing, especially for less common languages.
