Language localisation lets you deliver your step-by-step guides in multiple languages. You choose a default language for the guide and add target languages from the language localization panel. Once published, viewers pick the language they want to read the guide in.
Why use multilingual guides
- Deliver the same guide to a global audience without recreating it for each region.
- Let viewers follow steps in the language they're most comfortable with.
How to set the default language
- Open your step-by-step guide.
- Click the Translate dropdown at the top of the page.
- From the Select Language dropdown, choose the language you want as the default for your guide.
- Click Confirm.
How to add a language
- Click the Translate dropdown at the top left.
- Click Add or Remove. The language localization panel opens on the right.
- Click Add New Language.
- Select the source language and the target language from the available options.
- Click Translate. The guide is translated into the selected target language.
Repeat these steps for each language you want to add.
How to change the default language
- Open the Translate dropdown and click Add or Remove to open the language localisation panel.
- In the language localisation panel, click the three-dot menu next to the language you want to make the default.
- Click Set as Default.
How to remove a language
- Open the Translate dropdown and click Add or Remove.
- In the language localisation panel, click the three-dot menu next to the language you want to remove.
- Click Delete.
How viewers switch between languages
Once the guide is published, viewers can open the Switch Language menu next to the three-dot menu. This shows all languages available for the guide. Viewers select their preferred language and continue following the guide.
Best practices
- Set the default language before adding translations. It's the version viewers see when they open the guide.
- Add only the languages your audience needs. Every language you add appears in the viewer's Switch Language list.
