AI Narration reads your Step-by-Step Guide aloud using an AI voice. You pick a voice for each language configured on the guide, and viewers can play the narration from the published guide.
Why use AI narration
- Give viewers a hands-free way to follow a guide while they work through the steps in your product.
- Make guides more accessible for viewers who prefer listening over reading.
- Narrate the same guide in every language you've added to it, using a voice you choose per language.
Before you begin
Set a default language for the guide before enabling narration. See Add multiple languages to your step-by-step guide for the steps.
How to enable narration
- Open your step-by-step guide.
- Click Enable narration at the top. The Narration panel opens.
- In the panel, review the languages configured for the guide. Each language is listed separately.
- For each language, choose an AI voice from the Select Voice dropdown. This is the voice that narrates the script in that language.
- Click Enable.
Additionally, you have two more options to make the narration more engaging and entertaining.
- Word highlighting — turn on the word highlighting toggle to highlight each word on screen as the AI voice speaks it.
- Background music — turn on the Enable Background Music toggle to play background music during the narration.
How viewers listen to a guide
Once the guide is published, viewers click the Play button to start the narration. Viewers can also use the Switch Language menu to change languages, and the guide is narrated in the language they select.
Best practices
- Preview the narration in each language before publishing, so the voice matches the tone of the guide.
- Turn on word highlighting for guides viewers follow along with step by step. It makes the spoken text easier to track on screen.
